On July 25th 2011 the United Nations General Assembly on Youth convened in New York City at the United Nations headquarters. New Future Foundation’s delegation included young people from Long Island University Brooklyn Campus’s Mock UN club. The young people were able to witness the opening ceremony speeches by the president of the general assembly as well as from UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. They also attended round-table one and witnessed interventions by country missions and civil society organizations. The key contribution from the delegation was a document calling for the youth to take center stage in the international community, and the extension of the year of the youth for ten more years in order to fully realize the goal.
